When I was younger, I loved to fish. I remember on time as a 5-year-old going fishing with my dad and uncle to Marsh Creek, our usual fishing spot. When we got there, my dad set me up on a ledge above the water which seemed very high for a 5-year-old. He put a worm on the hook and helped me cast out. Click HERE to continue reading Fr. Hope of the Week -- Gary Warnalis
I am often described as a positive person, for I have great hope for people in general, but especially hope in God. God has been good to me and my family and I treasure our Catholic heritage.
I find hope first in my strong Catholic upbringing, starting from nearly 65 years as a parishioner and education here at the St. David School system. I appreciate the wonderful parish 101 years old and many wonderful parishioners who are friends and acquaintances.
I find hope in Fr. Windle, the deacons, and the IHM Sisters who dedicate their lives to making St. David a holy place to experience and follow our Roman Catholic faith. The staff at the parish are dedicated and caring for all parishioners and go out of their way to help parishioners. The teachers at Queen of Angels, through their caring and expertise of parish children, are evangelizing the next generation of faithful parishioners.
I find hope in the parishioners who support the many active ministries at St. David, from St. Vincent de Paul, Legion of Mary, Choir, That Man is You, Holy Name, PREP, RCIA just to name a few. Both the leaders and members of the ministries find ways to help us improve and share our faith life.
I find hope especially in my own family, as we share our faith throughout the week, from daily prayers, meetings or going to Mass together. Their faithfulness is a real strength to help me through the tough times and the good.
St. David Church is a great parish and should be a reason to hope for us all.
Scrip Tuition Fundraising Program
Scrip is a no-cost way to earn money for Catholic school tuition. This includes grade school, high school, and religious education programs. EVERYONE can participate. Even if you’re not a school parent, you can help family members or friends with tuition, or just support parish tuition assistance. Click HERE to find complete information. Scrip sales will return on Sundays in August, beginning on August 16th! Sales will be held from 10-11:00 in Fr. Curran Hall, at the counter by the kitchen area. Checks must be payable to St. David scrip program. Face coverings must be worn in Fr. Curran Hall. There will be no sales at St. David’s rectory during August. The tentative due date for placing a gift card special order is August 30th. More information will be forthcoming on plans for scrip sales during the school year.

The Green Phase
As of June 26, 2020, the five-county area of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia moved into the green phase of the reopening of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The green phase continues to require precautions to limit the spread of COVID-19 and our corporate responsibility to observe them.
The liturgical directives that follow are for the Pennsylvania green phase and our Archdiocesan Open Phase for the celebration of the Sacred Liturgy. They were authorized by the Archbishop to go into effect on Friday morning, June 26, 2020.
We can be certain that there will be challenges as we reunite and celebrate Mass together. I ask that we be patient with one another, we all desire one thing – to celebrate the Eucharist together in our church! It will take some adjusting and some refining of details, but let us keep our focus on the Lord, who calls us to gather as His people.
I eagerly await the day we gather together in our church. In the meantime, let us continue to pray for one another.

PREP
Due to recent COVID prevention recommendations from the OCE (Office of Catholic Education) and the OCF (Office of Catechetical Formation) a new plan for our students entering Kindergarten thru Level 8 PREP classes has been developed. Families will have the option of either in-person classes or homeschooling. Textbooks, Home-Learning Guides and On-Line Resources will be provided.
Detailed information will be emailed to all families who have children attending PREP, along with a 2020-2021 PREP Registration Form. If you have not already done so, please return this Registration Form, along with the yearly fee (check to St. David Parish or cash) by Friday, July 31.
